Between January and October 2024 we visited every ’active’ (currently in use) railway station in Finland. There are 197 of them. Here are photographs of these stations, placed in alphabetical order, using the Finnish name if there is also an alternative name in Swedish (ie. Turku/Åbo, Tikkurila/Dickursby). 4 seconds per photo. There are three small gaps between the music pieces as the time for the photos is 28 seconds longer than the music. Remember to increase the quality to 1080 as YouTube will try to fob you off with poorer 720 :) We drove in our car to get many stations, but also travelled by trains to get to others. The photos were taken using a cellphone (Samsung Galaxy A5), and cameras: Olympus SH-2, Canon EOS D60, Canon EOS R7. Background music: The White Horses – Jackie Lee Ei Vastausta – Matka maailman ympäri Movie Star – Harpo Kuka Keksi Rakkauden – Kaija Koo Some minor points: …’Eläintarha-Zoo’ is what the signs say at the station, but is listed as ’Ähtäri Eläinpuisto-Zoo’ on the VR (Valtion Rautatiet – State Railways) website. …’Lentoasema’ is listed as ’Helsinki Lentoasema’ on the VR website (this is the railway station for Helsinki’s airport which is situated in the city of Vantaa). …’Turku satama’ (harbour) has a small s on the station signs, but is listed as Turku Satama on the VR website (with a capital S). …’Kotka Satama’ (harbour) has a capital S on the signs at the station, but is listed as ’Kotka satama’ on the VR website (with a small s). …’Orivesi Keskusta’ has a capital K on the signs at the station, but is listed as ’Orivesi keskusta’ on the VR website (with a small k). …similarly, ’Tornio Itainen’ (no hyphen) at the station itself, but as ’Tornio-Itäinen’ on VR’s website. …Vainikkala railway station is unusual at the moment in that it has (temporarily) not been in use for passenger traffic since 2022 due to the ’conflict’ between Russia and Ukraine; it is on the line between Helsinki and St. Petersburg. ...the photo of Kymi station has had the name added as text as it's under renovation/reconstruction and there are no station signs there at all.
