L’avantage concurrentiel en management : une nouvelle théorie fondée sur le bien-être social

Ce papier établi un parallele entre la theorie des droits de propriete de l’entreprise (PRT) et les principales theories en management strategique, la theorie des ressources (RBV) et le modele des strategies generiques de Porter (PGS), montrant qu’une firme developpe un avantage concurrentiel durable tout en conservant la propriete de ses ressources si et seulement si elle maximize le bien-etre social. Fournissant une rationalisation formelle a la fois de RBV et de PGS, le modele etend leur portee en integrant la presence de reseaux de complements et des considerations de bien-etre social, soulignant l’importance de deux nouvelles caracteristiques de ressources dans RBV, collaboratives et faciles a combiner, et defendant la prise en compte de deux nouvelles strategies dans PGS, plateforme et coordination. The paper establishes a parallel between the Property Rights Theory (PRT) of the firm and the main theories in strategic management, the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Porter Generic Strategies (PGS), showing that a firm develops a sustainable competitive advantage while keeping ownership of its assets if and only if it maximizes social welfare. Providing a formal rationalization of both the RBV and PGS frameworks, the model extends their scope with the integration of strategic networks of complementors and social welfare considerations, highlighting the strategic importance of two new resource characteristics in RBV, collaborative and easy to combine, and advocating the consideration of two new business strategies in PGS, platform and coordination.
