In this video we visit Carrum, a station on the Frankston line in Melbourne's south. Recorded during the final days of the old station, we see all three types of Metro trains; Comeng, Siemens and X'trapolis EMU's. As a bonus we also see Pacific National loco's G527 & G536 hauling the Long Island steel train towards Hastings. It was running quite late on this particular day; had it run at its usual time I would have missed it. On the 6th July 2019 Carrum station will be closed until early 2020 while its rebuilt to grade separate the level crossing at Station Street. The video was recorded on the 4th July 2019 with works beginning around the station some months prior, including the closure of the level crossing and the construction of new temporary rail lines. Despite this the station buildings and platforms have generally remained intact until now. Even the level crossing boom gates were still in action. Carrum station originally opened on the 1st August 1882 when the line from Mordialloc to Frankston opened. The red brick building aren't the original station buildings but they are an interesting example of Victorian Railways architecture (possibly 1930's?) that generally hasn't been seen elsewhere. The station had a minor upgrade in 2015 when extra shelters were added and the toilets refurbished. The station also had an active signal box and a stabling yard, which was used to originate/terminate trains during peak hour. The stabling yard is being relocated to Kananook as part of the grade separation. Subscribe to ThebusofdoomFSX: https://www.youtube.com/user/Thebusof...
