Mount Izard to Mount Cheeseman in the Craigieburn Range

The Craigieburns are always scenic on a snowy winter's day, but both times I've done this particular Mt Izard - Cheeseman circuit with the CTC (Christchurch Tramping Club) we've had especially breathtaking light and clouds. (Or is it the steep climb up the spur that's breathtaking?- Especially this time, since I was recovering from illness + too much running…) I remember the first trip as a grim battle against storm winds flinging spindrift at our faces like handfuls of gravel. But this time it was a relaxed, peaceful trundle in fine weather (thankfully, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to keep up!) with plenty of time to stop and enjoy the flowing waterfalls of cloud.
