Tension gripped Jajpur district’s Dharmasala block after hundreds of locals surrounded the Jenapur police station, demanding the arrest of a Dalit youth’s rival following a village dispute. The confrontation reportedly occurred between Prahlad Behera of Endalba panchayat and Samarendra Panda of Malhat village. Both had lodged separate complaints at the police station, but villagers alleged biased action when police released Samarendra while detaining Prahlad. Upon learning that Prahlad had been produced in court, a large crowd of Dalit residents gathered outside the police station, raising slogans and demanding equal treatment for both parties. The protest created tension in the area, prompting police to strengthen security measures to prevent escalation.
