‘Damning’: Book which ‘demolishes’ Bruce Pascoe’s claims shortlisted for award

Sky News host Chris Kenny says a book which “completely demolishes” claims by Bruce Pascoe that Indigenous Australians practiced advanced agricultural techniques before European settlement was shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Literary Award. The book by authors Peter Sutton and Keryn Walshe, ‘Farmers or Hunter-Gatherers? The Dark Emu Debate (MUP)’, was shortlisted for 'scholarly accomplishment' in the Australian History category. Mr Kenny said information uncovered in the book is “emphatic and damning”. “Truth matters, reality matters, and the pursuit of the facts is absolutely crucial,” Mr Kenny said. “So it is a wonderful thing that this has been recognised in the literary world today when it comes to interrogating the facts over our Indigenous history.”
