There are 3 types of NVMe solutions that are commonly used which are U.2, M.2, and PCIe. Unfortunately for the R530, there is only one option which is PCIe. With this said, not every PCIe NVMe drive will work. You must use a drive that has Dell firmware. Even with a Dell NVMe drive, there are still a lot of limitations. You cannot install an OS or create a virtual machine on the drive. Overall, the only thing you can really use this drive for is for additional storage. When using a PCIe NVMe drive, you must make sure that the slot disablement setting in the BIOS is enabled. NVMe is ultra fast and offers major speed and performance gains.
