"Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play, children learn how to learn." Warm-Up Activities Physical Warm-Up: Start with simple stretching exercises to get the kids moving and to warm up their muscles. Example: “Shake It Out” – Shake different parts of the body one at a time to a rhythm. Vocal Warm-Up: Introduce fun vocal exercises to warm up their voices. Example: “Buzzing Bees” – Have the kids make buzzing sounds like bees, varying the pitch and volume. Theatre Games Icebreaker Games: Choose games that help kids feel comfortable and get to know each other. Example: “Name and Action” – Each child says their name and performs an action. The group repeats it back. Imagination Games: Stimulate creativity and quick thinking with improv games. Example: “Magic Box” – Pretend to pull imaginary objects out of a box and use them. Kids guess what the object is based on the mime. Skill-Building Activities Character Development: Teach kids how to create and develop a character. Example: “Character Walks” – Walk around the space as different characters (happy, sad, old, young). Improvisation: Encourage spontaneous creativity with improv activities. Example: “One Word Story” – Create a story together, with each child adding one word at a time. Scene Work: Introduce short scenes or skits for kids to practice acting. Provide simple scripts or scenarios and let the kids act them out.
