After a great visit to North Macedonia, it was time to head back to the UK and I could not miss the opportunity to fly on one of all time small aircraft. The Airbus A319-100! Sadly their days are numbered, they were originally due to be withdrawn from service by now already in 2026. But due to the delays with the 737s being delivered they have been kept until at least mid-2027 at the moment. So it was great to get on one again, however sadly I think it may have been my final flight on one. Once boarded a very stuffy cabin, with no working APU, meaning no air conditioning. We started one of our engines on stand, with use of a ground power unit before pushing back. We did however get pushed back well before schedule, something which is uncommon at SKP especially. A spectacular dusk departure from Skopje and a sharp left right almost straight away to turn back on ourselves and head north west, flying up the border of Serbia. Some beautiful views for the first part of the flight and into the sunset. Arrival into Frankfurt there was not much to see, we were the first arrival of the morning, just after 7pm and it was very clear. Quite atmospheric viewing though.
