When I painted the kitchen walls and cabinets, I didn’t have the filming capabilities that I do now so some parts of the project are missing. Moving forward, here is the shorter video of me applying the Rust-Oleum counter top coating. The full video of me doing the backsplash and counter tops is located in the link above. The counter top color we selected is called “light ash”. This stuff is great. You can renew laminate countertops, cabinets and furniture with it. “New”counter tops for $30??!?!? Yea…sign my cheap ass up for that. Take the paint to the paint counter at your local Lowes/Home Depot and have them tint it to one of the 12 color options. No primer needed before applying. Just a light sanding, wash with Dawn dish soap, dry thoroughly and apply with a foam roll brush and a foam hand brush. Don’t use fiber rollers…the fibers will rip off the roller and stick into the paint. I also wouldn’t recommend a standard paint brush because the brush strokes will show. Allow 2-3 days to cure. Make sure your room is well ventilated!!! This stuff off-gases a very harsh odor for a few days. ******DISCLAIMER****** I am certainly no professional, nor have I been officially taught or trained to do any of these tasks. I just use common sense, drink a fuck-load of coffee and do a ton of research. I’m sure there are better (or worse) ways of doing it.
