Clip from the documentary:"Eric Bogle: Return to No Man's Land". At the graveside of W. McBride.

Eric Bogle explains the reasons behind using the name Willie McBride in his famous song: "No Man's Land/The green fields of France". He was not referring to a real person but by chance two soldiers with the surname McBride were killed during WW1. Visitors to the cemetaries paid tribute to the gravesides of W McBride thinking he was the person referred to in the song. Others thought he was also referring to the Easter Uprising because he referenced the year 1916 - he was not and explains the references.
