Note to players: Transcription vids are for viewing what is being played. It is no substitute for transcribing the solo yourself. Don't cheat yourself. So folks, I'm out of stored transcriptions - guess I have to get back to work now... This tune was actually the very first tune I ever transcribed. Horrendous choice. Beautiful tune, fantastic solo: but no leadsheets published and also kind of crazy complicated for the FIRST transcription. There's a reason my teacher told me to start with something like "So What". But I digress - it certainly helped me grow quickly. This tune was written by Pepper Adams and George Mraz for the late Julian "Cannonball" Adderley. (definitely didn't misspell it on the original thumbnail and have to post it in a different font and color... nah,) Pepper Adams was one of the defining baritone saxophonists of the hard bop era, known for his big sound, driving articulation, and harmonically sophisticated improvising. George Mraz was a deeply respected bassist whose lyrical playing and impeccable time made him a first-call collaborator for many of the leading jazz artists from the 1960s onward.
