Welcome to the presentation of the Criteria that define a regenerative farm, the result of the work that the grassroots Iberian regenerative farming community has been carrying out for the past 15 years, facilitated and supported by the Association for Regenerative Agriculture. The first version of these Criteria was agreed upon in 2022 by the Iberian community of practitioners, and they have been improved and expanded throughout 2025 through the REGEN project in collaboration with CREAF, and with the participation of producers, technicians, academics and organizations from across Iberia. Today, different voices from the regenerative farming community will present these updated Criteria, and we will have the opportunity to discuss them and exchange ideas, along with Javier Retana from CREAF and Ana Digón from the Association for Regenerative Agriculture. The Iberian criteria have enabled the development and consolidation of the first Iberian map of regenerative farms (already including more than 120 farms) and the first search engine for regenerative food (with approximately 100 farms offering direct sales to consumers, consumer groups, businesses, online orders, etc.). Congratulations to the hundreds of people who have participated in this enriching process, and thank you for being here and joining us at this historic moment. Our hosts for this session are: Javier Retana is Professor of Ecology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a researcher at CREAF, an institution he directed from 2005 to 2019. His research encompasses complementary areas: on the one hand, the study of regenerative agriculture, and on the other, forest dynamics and the effect of disturbances, especially fire, on animal and plant communities and ecosystem services, including carbon and water. Ana Digón is a political scientist and sociolinguist, translator and interpreter, and facilitator of She is a leader in groups, an organizer of educational and social events, a writer, communicator, and trainer on topics related to Earth, Soul and Society. A graduate in Political Science and Languages from the University of the West of England in 1998, she is the co-founder, president and coordinator of the Regenerative Agriculture Association, an organization through which she began disseminating its principles and practices in Iberia, seeing it as a bridge to the future in these times of climate, food, economic and social challenges.
