Southern Philippines Medical Center-Children’s Cancer Institute (SPMC-CCI),Bajada, Davao City December 28, 2019 President Rodrigo Roa Duterte celebrated the Yuletide season with the children admitted at the Southern Philippines Medical Center – Children’s Cancer Institute (SPMC-CCI) in Davao City. The event is a yearly practice of the President being the former Mayor of the city. Eleven (11) children from the House of Hope Foundation Inc. and 35 admitted patients in the institute received gifts from President Duterte. During the visit, the President shared words of encouragement and exchanged fun stories with them. Also present were the parents of the children, SPMC officials and personnel, and the Board of Directors of the House of Hope Foundation Inc. The Children’s Cancer Institute started as a room with four (4) beds at the SPMC General Ward in 2014. In 2010, a 25-bed Pediatric Oncology Unit and Blood Diseases Unit were created located at the inner half of the General Ward on the third floor of the hospital’s main building.
