Imperial Dance Orchestra & The Strollers Quartet - Hello Baby, Fox-Trot from the "The Forward Pass” (Magidson-Washington-Cleary) Regal 1929 (USA) NOTE: The film comedy "The Forward Pass," starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Loretta Young, premiered on November 1, 1929, but due to the turmoil caused by the events of "Black Monday" (the onset of the Great Depression) the actual release was later (the sheet notes for the song were released on January 1, 1930). The film is considered lost, but songs written by Herb Magidson survived, including "I Gotta Have You" and the film's theme song "Hello Baby," which became a huge hit. I have no idea who the Imperial Dance Orchestra and The Strollers Quartet are in this recording. The orchestra's nick quite possibly hides Adrian Schubert's dance band, but there were quite a few dance bands in those days that used that name on their labels.
