This is a video comparing 4 different lineages of Taijiquan: the Yang lineage (rep. by Fu Zhongwen, top left), the Wu/Hao lineage (rep. by Ouyang Fang, top right), and two Chen lineages (rep. by Chen Zhenglei and Zhang Maozhen, bottom left and right respectively). If you are looking for Wu 吳 and Sun, please see the video linked below. While Yang style ultimately has roots in Chen, the forms are obviously distinct, but it is interesting to consider the possibility of some influence, although how much exactly is debatable. Knowing that Yang and Chen were (eventually) both in Beijing at the same time before the revolution, we may suppose that they both interacted closely or from a distance, also knowing that Chen Zhaopi was there before Chen Zhaokui's father. We may also suppose that the Wu/Hao style here, being practiced by a fairly distant "cousin", may have had less influence from Yang than the Wu style of Wu Quanyou, and being closer to Chenjiagou, may have had more influence from Chen... or less influence by virtue of being more isolated in a rural area. This is not to say which art is more pure than the other, but rather to observe and appreciate differences and similarities, and consider where they may come from, outside of direct transmission and personal development. Basically, the rationale for excluding Wu吳 and Sun in this video is that, when it comes to lineage, they could be seen as being more distant to Chen than Yang and Wu武/Hao; While Wu 吳 originated from Yang, Sun originated from Wu/Hao. So Yang, Wu/Hao and Chen can be said, chronologically speaking, to be the "oldest" styles, and perhaps more worth comparing together. However, with the way Tai Chi has developed, it should be acknowledged that all 3 styles may have gone significant evolution during their existence. Note, Zhang Maozhen's performance leaves out a chunk of movements, namely Part the Wild Horse's Mane, etc. See my video comparing Yang, Wu, Wu/Hao, and Sun styles here: • (OLD VERSION) Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) Co...
