Over 1,000 Taipower employees from across Taiwan participated. One team of new hires whose average age was only 30 is doing it to support their young families. Another woman who comes from a family of Taipower employees also came to showcase her skills. Carrying 11 kilograms of equipment, these competitors have to climb a 9-meter utility pole while working with their teammates to complete a simulated two-hour emergency repair. The skills competition known as the Taipower Olympics have been going for over half a century. This year’s edition drew more than 1,200 Taipower employees from across Taiwan. One team of new hires aged only 30 on average from around the Taichung area came to earn money for their young families. Whether they’re veterans at the company or new hires, everyone gives it their all.
