The Bus Company That Was Hung Drawn & Quartered. The Story Of North Western.

This is the story of what was once a big bus company. It served not only Manchester but Cheshire, Lancashire, Part of Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire - a huge area. This company was called North Western Road Car Company Limited. Under the National Bus Company it was broken up with the majority passing to SELNEC PTE - later Greater Manchester PTE. The remaining bits were split between Crosville and Trent with the coaching department being turned into National Travel North West. The name North Western would later be used when Ribble was split up in the 1980's and would once again become quite a big player in the post deregulation bus industry.
