A French center start Pathé record from 1903. Recorded in Milan, circa October, 1903 by the Anglo-Italian Commerce Co and released by Pathé on both cylinder and disc versions. The announcer and pianist are unknown. Also, the song title printed on the record is not spelled correctly. The record shows the title as "E lucean le stelle" but should be "E lucevan le stelle". Played on a French Pathephone No. 4 gramophone. Caruso recorded on several labels in Europe (Gramophone & Typewriter Co, Zonophono, and Pathé) before his first American recording for The Victor Talking Machine Company. His first recording for Victor was February 1, 1904 and from then on (with the exception of two records produced by G & T in April 1904) he had an exclusive contract with Victor and only recorded with them for the rest of his life.
