Our Blind 100% Playthrough of the Main Campaigns concludes with the Shadow Campaign! For those who are wondering why Shadow is here, the game provides a manual document that explains how this story is an alternate route to the main canon that takes place after the events of Sonic Adventure 2. Just as with the main canon, Shadow survived the final battle against the Biolizard and now seeks to reclaim his lost memories once again. Just as you'd expect, the Ultimate Lifeform is an absolute (Chaos) Blast to play. While he does not retain his dash from the original Sonic 1 Megamix, he was given something much more practical. Instead of the Light Dash, Shadow gains the ability to Double Jump using his Air Shoes, making platforming and exploration far easier, given that he is basically a Genesis Sonic with a perpetual Electric Shield Ability. In addition, Shadow also boasts the Jet Stomp, an ability that can both attack and give him a sudden burst of downward, diagonal forward momentum, which can be utilized effectively in multiple situations, especially given the fact that it can be acted out of with the option to cancel it into a Double Jump. Needless to say, Super Shadow gains a massive boost to his moveset upon transforming, given that jump height is doubled during Super Transformation, both his regular jump and Double Jump gain insane height while transformed, making exploration and platforming even more fun. Another phenomenal feature included in Megamix Mania is the addition of unique theme music for every character's Invincibility and Power Sneaker Abilities, as well as unique Extra Life, Game Over, and Stage Clear Jingles. Each of these is composed with such care and speaks volumes to each of the characters' origins and personalities. As a musician myself, I cannot stress enough how much joy this brings me to see this level of care given to the soundtrack. Shoutout to the musician sector of the Megamix Mania Team. Y'all cooked on this one! I can't wait to hear the absolute peak that will be the unique Super Transformation Themes told to be included in future updates! We were also incredibly blessed this stream to be able to speak with the lead coder of the mod, CodenameGamma, who stopped by to check on our playthrough and provide some insights into future plans for the game. Most fans of the Genesis Sonic Games already know Gamma as a legend for what she has been able to provide in terms of mods, games, and overall quality-of-life upgrades for multiple Sonic Projects, and it was an absolute joy to get to play her work here in the mod. She has an incredible design philosophy, and I do hope to enjoy more of her work and speak with her again in future streams. During the Shadow Campaign, we managed to locate the final Red Star Ring and claim our reward. That's right, in addition to everything else, the team decided to bring back Hyper Sonic as an obtainable reward for collecting every Red Ring in the game, and he functions just as well as he did in the original, complete with spines that cycle through the colors of the 7 Emeralds, the ability to perpetually breathe under water, and of course, his signature, screen-clearing Hyper Sonic Flash, capable of dashing in any direction and vaporizing all on-screen enemies with a press of the action button. As an added bonus, Hyper Sonic can still perform the Light Speed Dash while activating the Hyper Flash, and he can even act out of this technique with his Jump Dash or Homing Attack.
