Hanumangarh Epic - Bir Running Festival (The Hell Race)

I successfully conquered the Hanumangarh Epic at the Bir Running Festival 2023, defying two sleepless nights. The race commenced at the paragliding landing site in Bir, situated at an elevation of 1400m. The race took us to Hanumngarh top (3085m) from Bir landing site in just 8-9 kms encompassing a staggering 1800+m of elevation gain. From there, it was a downhill journey (7-8 more kms) all the way to the finish line at Billing (2300m), with a mix of meadows and sections on a jeep road. To be honest, every step was a struggle due to the exhaustion from sleep deprivation. The race began at 6am, which was exceptionally early for me. It felt like trying to drive or sit in a car while half-asleep. However, a brief power nap of 3-4 minutes during the ridge climb rejuvenated me, and I somehow managed to cross the finish line, securing a commendable 6th place out of 29 finishers. What an achievement!
