*The Johannesburg Council has passed a recommendation to introduce the position of a Deputy Mayor. 37 council members abstained 87 voted against the recommendation and 107 voted in favour. Coalition partners haven't yet decided who will fill the position, but newly elected regional chair might top list of candidates. *The Madlanga Commission's bench has lambasted KZN Hawks Head, Major-General Lesetja Senona over his evasiveness as he faced tough questions during his third day on the witness stand. Senona is accused of enjoying an improper relationship with alleged cartel member, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala. *President Cyril Ramaphosa has instructed Police Minister Firoz Cachalia, and National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, to establish a special task team to fast-track investigations from the Madlanga interim report. The commission submitted its first interim report on 17 December last year. *The Reserve Bank's Monetary Policy Committee has decided to keep rates unchanged.
