EVERYTHING you need to know to manual swap your EK Civic! I do assume you have some basic understanding/experience with working on cars hence I’ve skipped parts such as how to remove a drive shaft/axle. As part of the project Honda Civic EK VTi sedan, I am manual swapping it. In this video I have detailed every step of the journey. My car also has the rare CVT automatic gearbox, so some of the parts are slightly different, but the majority of it will be the same. I go through the steps of removing the auto gearbox, flex plate, auto shifter, shifter cable. I also detail the steps of installing the flywheel, clutch, 5 speed manual gearbox, clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, manual shifter linkage. There is also a few little things to do with key interference pin, wiring for starting the vehicle and getting the reverse light working. I was able to run my original automatic engine wiring with no issues, there are a few empty plugs now hanging around. The hardest part of the swap is probably just having all the right tools to do the job. As long as you have all the parts ready to go, it’s literally out and in. So make sure you have the right gearbox mount, torque mount, T bracket, gearbox, clutch fork, clutch, clutch master cylinder, clutch pedal, clutch slave cylinder, clutch line, clutch fluid/brake fluid, gearbox oil, S20/S40 gearbox, shifter linkage, approximately 2x 1.5 meters of wire. Quite a few parts are shared between the EG and EK as well, so many items are interchangeable such as clutch pedal, gearbox, drive shafts, shifter linkage, clutch master and slave, etc. Just keep in mind B series and D series are different. Please be sure to give me a thumbs up and subscribe! Just to clarify, I am not a professional mechanic. Working on cars and documenting them is my hobby and I hope to be able to help you work on your old 90’s Honda too!
