Because of its heavily character-driven and choice-driven story, it's best that you experience this game (and certain twists the story contains) without the burden of spoilers, as spoilers would lessen the impact of certain revelations in the plot. Therefore, if you have any desire to play this game at all, please go buy the game and play it before watching this video, because I'm gonna spoil pretty much everything about the game's "Genocide" playthrough! (It's very cheap, and well worth the purchase!) ========================================================== Definitely something different today, as I'm talking about the hit indie game, Undertale! More specifically, we're talking about Chara. Chara is a human child who only appears physically at the end of Undertale's "Genocide" playthrough, where, after a bit of exposition, they completely destroy the world, later offering to bring it back at the cost of the player's SOUL. Earlier in the Genocide Route, though, Chara is still a heavy influence on the playable character, Frisk, at times taking away control from Frisk (and the player) to do things like make creepy faces, step forward aggressively towards certain characters, make cruel remarks about certain monsters, and eventually kill major characters without hesitation or mercy -- and, again, without the player actually having the option of doing it or not. It's pretty clear from these actions that Chara is evil, no one is denying that, and in fact, many people call them the antagonist of the Genocide Route for those actions, but...does this TRULY make Chara the villain? I mean, yes, they're definitely responsible for the direct actions they take, don't get it twisted. What I'm saying is that, when you stop and think about just how Chara was able to do the things they did in the Genocide Route, you'll realize that someone else is ULTIMATELY at fault for the systematic murder of an entire civilization of innocent creatures, and the destruction of an entire world. So, today, I'm gonna go SUPER in-depth with the history of Chara in the Undertale universe, discuss how they died and were later "brought back to life", how and why they could take control away from the player at certain times, and in the end, just who is ULTIMATELY at fault for Undertale's Genocide ending!
