We Visited a Village in Sigiriya… and They Cooked for Us!

Join us on a Sigiriya village tour as we experience traditional Sri Lankan life! 🇱🇰 Our journey begins with a bullock cart ride, one of the oldest and most traditional forms of transport in Sri Lanka. Riding through the countryside gave us a glimpse of how locals have traveled for generations. Next, despite the unpredictable weather, we crossed the lake on a traditional catamaran boat to reach the village. The ride was an adventure and made the experience even more memorable! Once we arrived, the locals welcomed us and showed us how they prepare a traditional Sri Lankan meal using fresh local ingredients. We even got the chance to try a few parts of the cooking process ourselves, from helping with preparation to learning about the different spices and techniques used in authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. It was a cultural experience, giving us a taste of village life and the hospitality of the Sri Lankan people.
