eBiking Somiedo to Oviedo via la Senda del Oso

Pola de Somiedo to Oviedo on day 17 of my ebike tour of northern Spain This I knew would be another big mountain day, starting with a fast 10km down hill from Pola but then with a long steep climb for another 10km to get me back to 1340m. This far into the trip without any rest days my legs are feeling it so I’d decided to use sport assist on that 10km ascent, using 45% of a battery in doing so. I keep calling these spectacular but that’s what they were, I did this early in the morning before it got hot and the mountains had a cloud layer near their summit adding to the atmosphere. Sometimes I was looking down at that layer. The pass at the top had a herd of bullocks wandering around wearing the usual bells and a few cars and motorbikes although as I’d seen almost no traffic on my ascent they must have come from the other side. The descent was more a-bends taking me down to Samartin and the all important 2nd breakfast (which turned out to be lunch too). A few km on and my route swung off the road and onto another greenway the Senda del Oso - thus I had not expected and although the surface was often rough was welcome both for its beauty but also because the parallel road had got quite busy. Its ran for about 22km till I came off onto quiet roads at San Andres. These led me back up into the hills, I was nervous here as there were very steep mountains ahead with the crossing of them on an off road trail. It might be very hard if it was rough. In fast it connected me to yet another old rail line running right into Oviedo and although the mountains were steep it had a very long tunnel running through the worst so was a gentle incline.
