This is Steamworx, a Model Engineering channel. Building Dyak continued... I can only apologise for the lack of progress over the last couple of months. Work and personal life has kept me out of the workshop. I would like to be able to do this full time but that can only happen with your continued support which I greatly appreciate. Building this model steam engine in 2 1/2 inch gauge, Dyak (an LBSC design) continues with slide bars and crossheads. Once these are done there is a mechanism to mount the cylinders and line them up with the driving axle which will be the subject of the next video. There is no particular order to make most things but the crossheads need to be a good fit to the slide bars so it makes sense to me to make the slide bars first. The crossheads need a bit of concentration as they must be a good fit to both the slide bars and the piston rod. All must move smoothly if the loco is to work well. As always there is nothing to hide here, mistakes are made from time to time. I don’t re-make things off camera you get to see the finished article warts and all! I hope you approve! Please comment and subscribe, let me know what you think or would like to see! Enjoy!
