Estate Sale & Museum Liquidation: Vintage Toys, Dolls & Much More!

🔴 George's Lymphoma GoFundMe: https://bit.ly/4k0WUIC Today, I take a chance in Bothell, Washington, on a unique estate sale loaded with dolls and toys—and what a treasure hunt it turns out to be! The ads showed plenty of other things too, and from the moment I walk in, I see it’s packed with vintage finds: Lucite purses, mesh bags, jewelry, Victorian decorative objects, and collectibles from all eras. I quickly learn how fast good pieces can disappear—especially while fiddling with a camera! So I put it down to snag some of the great purses that lured me to the sale, and then go exploring the rest of this very different kind of estate sale, which features what remains from a long-closed regional doll museum and a few other estates combined in one big hall. The variety is incredible! We find everything from hat pins and fascinators to toy banks, Black Americana and composition dolls, wheeled toys, boudoir boxes, and decorations. The details, the craftsmanship—even the wear on these vintage pieces—all tell stories from the past, whether looking at tables full of Steiff animals, a spectacular French figural clock and candelabras, or tiny sewing implements from over a century ago. While the doll-crazed collectors mob those tables, I venture into less-discovered areas with vintage toys that offer a wave of nostalgia: Tonka trucks, wind-up toys, children's pianos, and charming puppets. We discover compacts, vintage costume jewelry, a cap gun we recognize as old (even if the other shoppers don’t), and even antique prints and photos in wonderful frames. There's something magical about uncovering items others overlook—especially pieces with history (and potential resale value). An abundance of dolls with expressive eyes and original outfits made it impossible to leave the doll tables empty-handed! My bag is nearly overflowing as I add Nancy Ann Storybook dolls, darling paper dolls from 1949, and jointed bisque dolls that have to come home with me. A table full of doll furniture and outfits captures our attention… but the special dolls on sale are the big feature. Antique Kestner fashion dolls, French wax dolls, Madame Alexanders, Buddy Lee boys, folk dolls, and boxed dolls from the 1960s–70s all captivate us. Dionne Quintuplets dolls, an antique Alabama doll, and more folk dolls evoke sweet memories of yesterday’s children—a touching piece of history we get to share today.
