A great example of this is the brand new MasterWall X-Series cladding system. http://bowens.com.au/ Richard Stamatis, Director of RN Cladding has been a customer of Bowens for three years. He specializes in cladding new homes and extensions, as well as recladding existing buildings. Richard strives to speed up the cladding installation process - without compromising on quality - and is always open to new products that offer such an improvement. Last month his Account Manager, Alex Testa from Bowens Rowville, introduced him to the X-Series from MasterWall. Alex explains that; “To go forward, you need innovation. You don't want to be living in the past so you must look to the future. Products like MasterWall X-Series are a fantastic solution to some of the existing issues we have with the cladding process.” The X-Series is the next evolution of MasterWall’s insulated cladding systems. MasterWall have had a pre-coated polystyrene system for the last 13 years and are considered market leaders. Launched late in 2018, the X-Series is an uncoated, lightweight, robust polystyrene cladding system. “The reason we use the X-Series is because we feel like we get a better result. We can use both sides of the polystyrene and it is much lighter than the pre-coated version. Our jobs go a lot quicker with the X-Series,” says Richard, With the X-Series system it takes Richard 1.5 days to clad a typical single story, 100 square meter house and 2 days to render. One of the reasons for the speed is that the sheets are up to five meters in length but are still very lightweight. This make it more efficient to install, especially on a second floor. There is also less wastage because both sides are the same so the panel can be reversed. “MasterWall X-Series offers the timeless monolithic modern look that everyone's after these days,” says Brent Pointon, National Product Manager at MasterWall. The X-Series complies with the both the Building Code of Australia and the Victorian Building Authority. This gives Richard peace of mind, knowing he is using a system that is compliant. An important part of the system is the flashing detail. Brent explains that; “Our flashing tape is exceptional and makes the windows, doors and penetrations both weathertight and airtight.” The system includes foam sealants that go in all the joints to ensure that you've got a watertight joint. The system provides excellent energy efficiencies. It is suitable for bushfire prone areas as it is rated BAL-29. The starter channel comes in either aluminium or PVC. The render includes a high polymer basecoat, reinforced with high quality fibreglass mesh, and an acrylic texture top coat. If you are doing an acrylic texture only finish, which is quite common in the industry, a seven-year, full system warranty applies. If you choose to also add an additional elastomeric membrane top coat, then the warranty increases to 10 years. Richard says that; “The main reason why we changed to the X-Series is because of the support and the accreditation. It just ticks all the boxes”.
