Hormones are chemical messengers secreted by endocrine glands directly into the bloodstream. Pituitary Gland (Master gland): • Location: Base of the brain • Function: Controls other endocrine glands, regulates growth, and releases various hormones. 2. Thyroid Gland: • Location: Neck • Function: Produces thyroxine, which controls the body’s metabolism and energy. 3. Parathyroid Glands: • Location: Behind the thyroid • Function: Regulates calcium levels in the blood. 4. Adrenal Glands: • Location: On top of the kidneys • Function: Secrete adrenaline and other hormones; help the body respond to stress (“fight or flight” response). 5. Pancreas: • Function: Produces insulin and glucagon, which regulate blood sugar levels. • Also acts as both an endocrine and exocrine gland. 6.
