Soft, buttery, and perfectly balanced – this Filipino Spanish Bread recipe has a sweet caramelized filling that’s not too sweet! The most requested treat that my friends and family always looked forward to whenever we have parties. For the Dough: • 3 ¾ cups bread flour • 1/2 cup white sugar • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast • 1 1/4 cup warm milk • 1 large egg • 2 tablespoon melted butter For the Caramelized Filling: • 1/2 cup butter or margarine • 1 cup sugar • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs For the homemade breadcrumbs: ( also use for coating) 1.Preheat your oven to 350°C . This step helps dry out the bread if it’s fresh. 2.Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bread is dry and crisp but not browned. If the bread is already stale or dry: You can skip this step. 3.Let the dried bread pieces cool completely. 4.Place the dried bread in a food processor or blender. Pulse until you get the desired breadcrumb texture—fine or coarse.If you don’t have a processor, place the bread in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin until crumbs form. 5.Store breadcrumbs in an airtight container. #SpanishBread #FilipinoBread #trendingspanishbread #caramelizedspanishbread
