The West Highland Way, 2025: 96 Miles Using Baggage Transfer. Day 4 - Inverarnan to Tyndrum.

Day 4 of the West Highland Way brings more familiar blue skies and another stunning day on the trail, as I journey from Inverarnan to Tyndrum. After the big miles of Day 3, today offers a more relaxed pace—but still packed with scenic variety and interesting changes along the route. Leaving Beinglas Farm, the trail winds through peaceful woodland and under a few tunnels, both large and small, adding a bit of fun to the terrain early on. Not long after, we reach a section near Crianlarich that’s seen major changes due to deforestation. What was once a shaded forest trail is now wide open and exposed—offering new views across the valley but also a bit less cover from the rising heat. From Inverarnan to Crianlarich is around 6 miles, and I take time to soak in the scenery and enjoy the lighter hiking day. After a brief rest near Crianlarich, it’s another 6 miles to our final destination: the welcoming By-The-Way Campsite in Tyndrum. Though shorter in distance, today’s 12 miles feel just right—offering time to enjoy the surroundings without the intensity of the previous day. To round it all off, I treat myself to a well-earned meal at the famous Real Food Café in Tyndrum. Proper fuel for the legs and the soul!
