Although it is not my absolute favorite hike in Washington - that would be the amazing Enchantments! - Cascade Pass is my favorite hike in terms of "bang for the buck." You don't have to exert the effort you do on some of the other hikes in the North Cascades National Park, but you're immersed in the beauty that is the American Allps right from the trailhead! You can't beat that because it makes it a great choice for beginners, too! So if you are looking for a hike where you want to bring someone and see them fall in love with hiking the Cascades, this is the hike to bring them on! I drove my Mustang to the trailhead, it's a bumpy road in some points so a higher-clearance vehicle is probably the best option, but if the Mustang can do it, you can get there in anything, just take it slow. Once at the trailhead you will see what I'm talking about. The mountains are right there. Soaring high, snow-capped in the summer! A beautiful site. The trailhead starts with some incline, but nothing intense like the surrounding hikes. A short time on the switchbacks will bring you to the trail that leads you into the pass and makes you feel like you are in a fairy tale. It's that amazing. I'm a fan of people getting out and seeing our beautiful world. And I know there are those out there who have those friends or loved ones who are hesitant to take the plunge into serious hiking, so it's important to find hikes like this one that are relatively little effort but the payoff is immense. The other great part about this hike is it leads you up to the Sahale Arm trail - another absolutely amazing experience. For the more experienced, in-shape hiker, this one is a must! Ah yeah! Enjoy!
