In this episode, we’re gonna turn up the heat and count down the Top 5 Carnal Songs of all time. These are tracks that pushed boundaries, raised eyebrows, made people blush, and sent the morality police into a frenzy. These songs weren’t just hits; they were bold, seductive, and unapologetically raw. A few were straight-up banned like the biggest hit ever from the golden gods of rock, Whole Lotta Love, whose lead singer mimicked the sounds of carnality so vividly it cost the band a #1 hit. And then there was the music video by Van Halen that was so bad Friday Night Videos had to put black bars over the screen to cover some naughty parts. And you’ll be shocked to find out that the most famous song about getting it on, called Let's Get It On, is actually about praying to overcome substance abuse? All 5 of these classic songs left their mark on rock history. The countdown of the Top 5 Carnal Songs of the rock era is NEXT on Professor of Rock. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Executive Producer Brandon Fugal Honorary Producers Kimberley Rumburg, Brent Gephart, Glenn Beardmore, Jennifer Selvidge, Carl Curcuruto, Thomas Williams ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out my Hand Picked Selection Below Professor's Store Van Halen OU812 Vinyl Album https://amzn.to/3tLsII2 The 80s Collection https://amzn.to/3mAekOq 100 Best Selling Albums https://amzn.to/3h3qZX9 Ultimate History of 80s Teen Movie https://amzn.to/3ifjdKQ 80s to 90s VHS Video Cover Art https://amzn.to/2QXzmIX Totally Awesome 80s A Lexicon https://amzn.to/3h4ilrk Best In Ear Headphones (I Use These Every Day) https://amzn.to/2ZcTlIl ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check Out The Professor of Rock Merch Store -http://bit.ly/ProfessorMerch ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check Out Patron Benefits http://bit.ly/ProfessorofRockVIPFan Help out the Channel by purchasing your albums through our links! We’re gonna probe the provocative by cover the 1st and last word of that quote with the Top 5 Carnal Songs of the Rock Era, starting with a Van Halen Two for one at our #5 spot. I got Hot for Teacher from Diamond Dave and Company from 1984 and “Black and Blue” by Sammy Hagar & Company from 1988. Hot For Teacher was never a big hit but it is one of the most memorable tracks of that year with a music video that captured every boy from 7 to 18… Who hasn’t had a crush on one of their teachers but of course David Lee Roth took this one to the extreme, especially in the music video: the first controversy hit when the video showed all the band members performing a quick crotch-grab during the "...so bad..." part of the chorus; even forcing the NBC late-night show Friday Night Videos to add Black Box Censor Bars to the crotch Grabs but after a few months they removed them But another one came when the co-directors of the music videos Pete Angelus and David Lee Roth pulled off a stunt they thought was pretty naughty but actually went virtually unnoticed for years. Angelus said and I quote: ”One thing I remember about that video that a lot people don’t know or maybe didn’t see. When Dave turned into the television show host, we had an idea. I thought, 'You know ... there hasn’t been a really substantial urine stain on MTV. Ever, when you really think about it. So let’s pour a lot of water on David’s crotch. Let’s make it look like he really just pissed himself. And then let’s see if anyone sees it when we hand the video into the record company and MTV.' And nobody did! I know this sounds absolutely pathetic to say, but we probably pulled off the first and most substantial urine stain in the history of television. Even if nobody got it. Shifting to Black and Blue" from Van Halen’s 8th studio album OU812, and was the first single released from the record.
