Instagram: / dustin.stelzer The Milwaukee M12 Rocket job site light is a very cool new light that I’ve gotten to test out. I’ve use the larger M18 Rover, and most of the tools I have are M18. I’ll still use the larger version for sure, but the M12 is much easier to transport and fit into a work truck. It extends up to 6’ tall, puts out 1400 lumens, and while only having 3 modes (high, low, and off) this little guy packs a punch for it’s size, providing enough light for just about any job you’ll need to do in the dark. FUNCTIONALITY This light has telescoping legs that pull out into a tripod, and it stands sturdy whether you’ve got it extended 3’ or out to all 6’. I personally prefer using the M12 Rocket on jobs because it is much easier to carry around, and it gives me plenty of light to see what I’m doing. Both the M12 and the M18 have a 110V male receptacle so you can plug it into an extension cord if all your batteries are charging. This is a killer idea in my opinion, most of Milwaukee’s job sit lights come standard with this feature. The one flaw i see is that the M18 has several clamping and options that keep the light exactly at the height you want it once you’ve extended and set it to illuminate a certain area. With the M12, you can only go to the max or minimum height. If you try to set the neck anywhere in the middle, the head will eventually slide down. Another thing that I think would make this tool better would be if Milwaukee put more diodes on the head of the light to give you a wider and/or brighter area to work in.
