The Jewish wedding in Yemen was a huge event and perhaps the most significant in a person's life in the community. It lasted for two weeks and included various ceremonies, feasts and processions. Zaffa was the main longest procession that accompanied the bride from her father's house to her new home, her husband's family house. Her sisters, aunts, mother, friends, family members, the entire females community accompanied the bride in a procession of songs and drums playing The bride was actually handed over to the groom's family. she had to leave her family, her home, sometimes to a distant place without knowing when and if she will even return to her parents' home. In Yemen, young little girls (at the ages of 9 - 13) were forced to marry. There are many songs that relate to this moment. Songs in which the bride claims: "Mom and Dad, how could you sell me?" Songs of pain and crying about what goes on inside the mind and soul of a girl who is forced to marry and leave her family, move to another place of residence with strangers.
