It's one of our favourite buildings in Lancashire. It's quite chunky, and architecturally impressive. It also has a surprising history, not to mention a gruesome one. (Doesn't everywhere we cover in Lancashire Footnotes? If it didn't have executions, ancient burials, evil sprites, demonic witches and tragic ghosts attached to it, then it probably wouldn't be worth filming, to be honest.) We're talking about the Ashton Memorial, of course. (The view from the top is quite good, if you're into castles and priories and mountains and stuff.)
