After spending five years in the Montessori classroom, Janel Sharman has some advice for her public high school teachers: if you want to foster a love of learning in your students, give them more responsibility. In this TEDxLFHS talk, Janel examines how her Montessori education experience shaped her as a learner and how its principles can be applied to the public education system to make learning more fun and natural. Although Janel does get occasionally stressed and upset with school work, she generally enjoys learning and wants to help others become more passionate for school by cultivating a love for learning. She is very excited to share her Montessori experience and ideas for public school reform with anyone who wants to listen.
