Coming out from the same CNR Changchun factory that built the C951 for the Downtown MRT Line and with very similar features including the Bombardier MITRAC traction system, the Changchun Bombardier AC09A is the rolling stock for Line 7 and 9 (as well as the similarly built Changchun Bombardier AC09B for Lines 12), forming a major part of Shanghai Metro. The only major difference between the Downtown MRT Line and the Shanghai Metro Lines is the latter still require train drivers to operate them. The dynamic route display is installed but placed at the center of each carriage, rather than directly above each door.
