This workshop followed an event in 2025 introducing basic ideas around local and national systems leadership in public health - • Cheshire and Merseyside Public Health Syst... This time, as well as having a recap on how systems leadership can help in our current environment, we heard from Sophia Bird, Principal Health Promotion Specialist, Obesity and Nutrition, Public Health Wales and Lydia Orford, Principal Public Health Practitioner, NHS Wales, about applying whole system approaches in their healthy weight strategy and evaluation methods. We also heard from Duncan Radley, of Leeds Beckett University, who gave a presentation on system and ripple effect mapping, to help us identify and track the effect of system-wide work. The session was facilitated by Debbie Sorkin, National Director of Systems Leadership at The Leadership Centre and chaired by Helen Bromley, Director of Public Health for Cheshire West and Chester Council. Alongside speakers, public health colleagues from across Cheshire and Merseyside, brought their own reflections on using these approaches in practice.
