This is a film about the positive impact that the arts, property ownership and anchor organizations have on community revitalization and the citizens it serves. The film traces the life and career of Carla Perlo, Founding Director of Dance Place located in Northeast, Washington, DC. Her extraordinary commitment to teaching her Saturday morning modern dance class for over forty years, her impact on children through creative programs for youth, the uplifting of the field of dance through presenting and the large impact that Dance Place has had in revitalizing the Brookland/Edgewood community. The film is divided into the following five sections and is interspersed with the filming of live dance sections that were performed by her students and col leagues in spring 2022: Family & Childhood; The College Years: Adams Morgan; Brookland/Edgewood; Nothing Stays the Same/Leadership Transition
