The mountain Gua strategy has the firmness of the earth as it’s foundation. It lifts the opponent’s technique/energy to create an unstable structure in the opponent. With the hands battle, it lifts the technique taking them potentially off balance and creating openings. The three battles are a theory to understand combative tactics. We are looking at each of the three battles through the strategic lens of the Guas from Baguazhang with each gua representing a strategy and each battle represents an area of combat to apply that strategy.
