Holy Cow! Worst Severe thunderstorm ever pummels Westbury! August 15, 2012

I put this video together as quickly as I could. Late this morning, thunderstorms started popping up across central Nassau County. The first one had lightning and loud thunder, but wasn't severe. The 2nd cell popped up right behind it and slammed the Mineola, Garden City, Westbury, Hicksville area. It hit just after 11am, with winds I'd estimate around Hurricane Force and torrential rain. The lightning seemed to be right on top of us, but the rain was so heavy no bolts could be seen. The power flickered but stayed on in most of town, however to our north, west, and east there's many power outages, as 5,000+ LIPA customers lost power during this event. I'm frankly amazed it stayed on, considering the conditions were much worse than Hurricane Irene. I'm pretty sure the winds were straight line, but they did shift around a bit, the storm may have been capable of producing a tornado. LIRR service on the Mainline is suspended around Mineola due to flooding. Many roadways are flooded as well. Alot of fire sirens going off. Definately one of the worst, if not the worst, thunderstorm I have ever witnessed. Trust me, this video doesn't do it justice, though I tried my best, managing to get soaked in the process! Amazingly I saw some people walking around in this. The storm is now headed east and hitting Suffolk. If it hasn't hit you yet, stay put!
