These studies have allowed us to clearly demonstrate how Young Learners exams straddle pre A1 to A2 levels with a strong performance at Movers indicating level A1 and a strong performance at Flyers indicating level A2. We are also able to define the relationship between Flyers and Key for Schools with more precision. Because the Young Learners exams do not precisely map onto one CEFR level, expected outcomes in the classroom should be re-defined as a range of performances should be expected and managed.
