We installed our new bees into their hives! In a few days we'll go back in and release the queens. Some things weren't covered in the video that are important. These bees have no food stores because it is a brand new hive. Because of that we installed feeders, the long black containers in the top box. These we filled with a home made simple syrup just prior to installing. We also gently sprayed each foundation with the same solution to encourage the bees to start building comb. Spring Bee Syrup ---------------------------- 10 lbs. sugar 10 lbs. water Measure out both ingredients by weight and put in a large (2+ gallon capacity) stock pot. Heat on medium high until all the sugar has dissolved and the solution turns clear. Remove from heat once it begins to simmer and cover. Allow to cool in the pot until room temperature, usually overnight.
