On the morning of Wednesday July 18, 2018, my friend Bruce and I made the early trek up Route 1 to the area of Edison, NJ to witness the Raritan Central Railroad's morning operations as they serve the busy industrial park known as the Raritan Center. Due to the railroad's early sign on times, the long day's of the Summer are the best time to capture them, and we were not disappointed. 0:25 - RC-1, the 5 AM job outta the Raritan Central, is seen arriving at Conrail's Metuchen Yard in Metuchen, NJ with a pair of Geeps, GP30M 5 and GP38 2244, which was recently purchased from LTEX and painted into red from the BNSF H1 scheme it wore previously. RC-1 is seen shoving their cars for CSAO into the yard before awaiting WPME-47 (Not shown) to shove their cars from Oak Island up their power... 4:10 - RC-1 tears across Woodbridge Avenue in Edison with the red GP38 leading upwards of 20 cars 7:40 - RC-1 works the Upper Yard, which is where they sort their cars around for certain customers, seen as they pull across Fieldcrest Avenue before reversing, and then pulling back east with cars for their customers on the Northfield Running Track 10:41 - RC-1 reverses down the Northfield Running Track, where they will leave their cars for Ultimate Logistics and a Lumber distributor down the line before pulling back up. 14:45 - RC-1 reverses back across Fieldcrest towards the upper yard and then back across before shoving into their main yard in the Raritan Center 18:52 - The 2244 experienced some issues and would be set out, leaving RCRY 5 all by itself to finish the day's duties as they drill out the yard before heading out to work the Home Depot Distributor. 26:38 - Now over on the Northfield Runner again, RC-2, which signs on at 8 AM is seen grabbing a trio of Wisconsin Central boxes for Ultimate Logistics with RCRY 7545, a former Conrail/PC/NYC GP10. Special Thanks to the friendly employees of the Raritan Central, and thank you for watching!
