Hyde St. Pier is presently closed for refurbishments and the ships have mostly been relocated to Mare Island in Vallejo for repairs and continued restoration. The Park Service has not announced an estimated date for the reopening of the Hyde St. Pier. Check the website listed below for details and updates. This video was shot over the course of several visits. I only managed to board three of the boats and one of them, the Hercules, was already removed by the time I came back. Hyde St. Pier tickets were good for a whole week. This is because, due to tides and weather conditions, some of the boats are often closed to boarding. The giant paddle boat was only open in the summer months, so I missed that one completely. But in this video, we get a walking tour of the C.A. Thayer, Balclutha, and Hercules. But fear not, San Francisco’s Aquatic Park still has things to see and do. Across the street from the pier is a very good visitors center & museum of San Francisco’s maritime history. On the other side of the park is a second maritime museum. Both of these museums are free. In between these two museums, you’ll find the Hyde Street Cable Car starting point and Ghirardelli Square.
