Swan City - Exploring Sibu, Malaysian Borneo

Sibu, a city on the western side of Malaysian Borneo, surprised me in more ways than one. Originally, I had planned to stay for just a night, but after a short walk around the hotel area, I knew I needed more time to explore this fascinating city. So, I extended my stay to experience a full day of discovery! I kicked off at the Sibu Town Square, the largest town square in Malaysia, where the vast green space and sunny skies set the perfect tone for the day. From there, I made my way to the Lau King Howe Hospital Memorial Museum, a free museum showcasing the progress of medical procedures from the 1930s to today—definitely worth a visit. Next up was the Rajang River, Malaysia's longest river and the 8th longest in Borneo. Its sheer size was breathtaking as I wandered along the waterfront. Continuing my journey, I ventured to a beautiful Chinese garden, rich with the history of Sibu's early Chinese settlers. There's so much to do in Sibu that even with an extra day, I didn’t get a chance to see it all.
