🍿 Subscribe 👉 to Social Impact Channel and 👍 Like Video Theory Of Change Learning Series: https://bit.ly/3B42lQg We'll talk about a better way to measure the program's social impact or impact investments and talk about different levels of measuring the social impact. Some mechanisms yield better results than others. Our goal is to give you different impact measurement and management approaches so you can make the right appropriate decision for your organization. There are different levels of organizations. #socialimpact #impactmeasurement #monitoringandevaluation Content- 00:00 - 00:56 Introduction 00:57 - 02:03 Theory of Change = Yes, But No Data 02:04 - 03:17 Collect Activity and Output Data Only 03:18 - 05:15 Randomized Control Trial (RCT) 05:16 - 06:30 Social Return on Investments (SROI) 06:31 - 08:28 Continuous Learning and improvement Level one is the organizations that have already developed the Theory of Change but have not been collecting data. Many social enterprises or social purpose organizations focus heavily on defining the Theory of Change. And that's great. It helps you understand the impact map, get the internal team to align toward the various input-output outcomes, and understand the right activities for your programs. We should attempt to understand and collect the right kind of data to communicate current data. If you don't have any data, you should describe your results to the forecasting. The second level of organizations typically uses a funded-driven approach. Typically define the metrics for the program results, product or sales results, or services results in international development. This term is often called monitoring and evaluation. Level three of the program is a randomized controlled trial, or RCT, started by the pharmaceutical and medical industry. This is a common technique used just through the style experiments that aim to reduce certain sources of bias. Even if you're engaging them in this data collection process, it is backward-looking, expensive, and time-consuming. Level four, where the social return on investment is commonly called SROI. Social return on investment is a principle-based method for measuring extra-financial value. It can be used by any entity to evaluate the impact on stakeholders, identify ways to improve the performance, and enhance the performance of investments. There are many challenges with this approach. Defining the financial proxy can be expensive and time-consuming. It has subjectivity. It does not consider context enough, and there's little room for qualitative feedback and a long time to see the results and evaluation. Level five is continuous learning and improvement. The best way to do it is to focus on the immediate outcome and define the impact goal for that. Design the process in such a short, frequent, and stakeholder-driven approach and analyze those results based on a multi-dimensional approach, by looking to data in a multi-dimensional way, your ability to understand explain communicate, and learn.
