[New WR] MangoMelon's 5m16s: • Hoshi Saga 6 Speedrun (beat that mouthwest!) Hey bartender, can I get a Stg.76? Just put it on my Tab. Play this game here: http://hoshisaga.jp/hoshi6/index.html This is a speedrun of the sixth Hoshi Saga game by Yoshio Ishii/Nekogames. This game actually has some challenging levels that require good planning and execution, which is pretty rare for the (normal) Ringo games. Notes: Stages 70 and 72 are both rather hard to execute quickly, so I go for that row/column combination first. Using Tab+Space for Stage 52, you can light the lamp before it's plugged in! I swear there's a bug in Stage 62 (cup game). I believe there's a sequence of rotations that puts the star in the wrong cup, unless I'm really bad at following the cups. It seems to occur once every four or five sequences. My goal for Stage 72 is to keep the yellow ball as low as possible so that it takes less time to be hit again. But it has a very small hitbox, and the purple rocks are very difficult to work with. It's very hit-or-miss, and I've had runs where this level was about 3 seconds faster. Woops'd hard on 70. The ladder puzzle of 64 is rather tricky. If the creature comes from the fourth column, you have to clear the very first line right away. On the other hand, if it comes in the first column, you can click any line that's not in its path. It's helpful to write down which ones must be cut for each column. Stage 71 is interesting in that I have to set it up by Tabbing over Exit early, and also get my mouse into position. But once the strokes are in place, I alternate between Tab and Enter until I have to break the sequence, then I click, then continue with the alternating keys. It was fun to work with this. When trying to come up with a fast solution for 74, I worked out a rough estimate of the solution, then failed to execute in 30 minutes of slow trials. Luckily, I found a visual cue - the bottom-left tip found in the second ring needs to be rotated straight down, then use that as anchor to align rings 4, 1, and 3 in that order. Haha, you can solve 75 before the children even get into place :) When I was working out my level strategies and my route for this game, I thought it was going to be very fun to play, given that the Ringo set is otherwise pretty dry. I had some fun playing Ringohime (7), but Ringoame (5) was just very plain and boring for the speed game. However, I was getting very frustrated when recording my runs, since I do the cups so early and every reset costs about a minute if I didn't screw up something super easy. It was a letdown to keep failing 62, 66, 68, 72, and 64 - I felt like I wasn't going to complete a single decent run. My goal was 5m30s, which I easily got after some level improvements, but I could possibly get a sub-5 with a lot of practice and a lot of luck. I might come back to this one if I'm feeling adventurous, but given that the extremely difficult Dokuringo is next, I doubt this will be anytime soon. [SPRT time is 5m 18s 767ms.
